Rainbow-4 and rainbow-5 UAVs developed by rainbow UAV Technology Co., Ltd. of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. have successfully completed their first flight in the new year of 2021.
On January 5, the national emergency mapping project team of rainbow UAV successfully carried out the full state flight mission of rainbow-4 UAV system in remote mountainous areas of Yunnan Province.
This flight is the first flight of rainbow UAV in the new year, which has laid a reliable foundation for the improvement and in-depth application of follow-up UAV system support ability, and solid promotion of flight mission training plan.
Rainbow-5 UAV also recently ushered in the new year's first flight. During the experiment, the temperature of the northwest outfield has dropped below - 20 ℃. The test team overcame the difficulties of extreme cold and carried out defrosting and investigation seriously. Finally, the flight test was a complete success.

4. FAA approves commercial operation of UAV automatic airport
On January 14 local time, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved for the first time the letter of approval for the automatic airport of fully automated commercial UAVs. According to the news, FAA has authorized a small company named American robotics in Massachusetts to operate the automatic airport system, becoming one of the first enterprises to be granted the authorization of commercial automatic airport.
